Submitting digital files

Some files need to be prepared by Kedde Printing before they can go to press. Examples of these are open files in Quark Xpress, Adobe InDesign, Adobe PageMaker and also PostScript- and/or PDF files. Comps, scans, digital designs, semimanufactures and working drawings have to be made up digitally, in Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator, for example.

Guidelines and specifications for best results
The quickest file format is high resolution PDF.
For Apple we accept work done in Adobe InDesign CS2, QuarkXpress 6.1, Adobe Photoshop CS, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat 5.0.
For PC/Windows we accept PDF, Coreldraw or QuarkXpress.
Copy may be submitted in MsWord, WordPerfect, ASCII or via email.
We can layout your files in Quark Xpress or Indesign.

Supply: Always supply the final black-and-white or colour printout of your work, if possible full-size (100%).
Fonts: Please supply all the fonts you have used (screen and printer fonts), also in Photoshop and/or Illustrator. Don’t change fonts manually into bold, italics, etc. and don’t use system fonts in the layout.
Colours: Don’t use RGB-colours in the layout.
Spot colours: If using spot colours, don’t blend cv, cvu and cvc, as these will be turned into separate films. It is a good idea to make a colour separated test print to see how many separations there are.
Naming illustrations: Use short names, no spacing and/or strange characters.
Bleeding: If your item needs to bleed off the page, please use a bleed of at least 3mm.
Images/scans: The effective resolution required for press is 300 dpi and for photocopies 200 dpi. If you are submitting a high resolution PDF please ensure everything is in CMYK or spot colours.
