Kedde according to the people at Kedde

Marcel (prepress technician): “We’re flexible at Kedde. We accept files in Mac or Windows: it doesn’t make a difference. And we like doing business face-to-face. Plenty of our customers walk right through to me to discuss their design, look at a film. It’s a win/win situation. Both parties profit from good communication. There is less chance of making mistakes. I also work closely with the printers: often going over to them to discuss something and vice versa. We’re not all stuck in our own little worlds. We make the best of each other, which is quite unique in the printing business I think.”

Henk (printer): “There is a lot of skill involved in printing, more than most people realize. A lot of people think that you just press a button, sit down and wait for the prints to roll out. But that’s far from the truth. Every single job is custom-made. You need to have a feeling for it, acquired through years of experience. At Kedde’s I work with the Speedmaster. I was specially trained to use it and I absolutely love this press. When I first started using it my head was spinning with everything I had to learn. Now I play it like a musician plays his instrument. If you love your work, you’re on the right track.”

Erik Kedde (manager): “We are one of the few printers still located in the centre of Amsterdam. I take pride in that. We have a personal connection with our customers. They’ll often drop in, or come by on their bike to take a look at the press and see how their print job is coming along. Our people are committed to their work and experienced in the printing trade. This is what sets us apart as printers. Everyone in the business has more or less the same printing presses. It’s the people that make the difference.”

Hans (coordinator): “What does Kedde Printing stand for? I can sum us up in three words: personal, flexible and precise. I see myself as a kind of tailor. Every customer has different needs, ideas about colours and paper type, and a different budget. It is my job to ensure the customer gets good quality print work without spending a fortune. I am here to advise. For example you don’t always need to use four colours to achieve that premium quality look. You can go for high-quality paper instead and create the same effect. Commitment and attention to detail, that’s what one needs in this trade.”
